This documentary tells the story of the hour-long unscripted film that the Fab Four made for the BBC in 1967. A quarter of the population tuned in to watch when it aired on Boxing Day that year, between the Petula Clark Christmas Special and a Norman Wisdom film. What they saw was a loose set of magical japes set around an old-fashioned mystery tour on a charabanc with the Beatles playing wizards. It was heavily influenced by the psychedelic home movies shot by Ken Kesey and his Merry Pranksters on their Sixties road trips across the US in a brightly painted bus.
