The Wind in the Willows: As Toad and his friends enjoy lunch in Toad Hall, the field mice accidentally hit their cricket ball through one of the windows. Rat suggests they try a more harmless pursuit, and comes up with the idea for a paperchase. Toad snorts at the idea at first, but suddenly becomes interested when the idea develops into the River Bankers' Paperchase Championship. He and the Chief Weasel's 'son' Aloysius both enter the race, intent on winning the cup. Rat and Mole are amazed when Toad arrives at their checkpoints with hardly anyone ahead of him, and not even out of breath. Where has Toad's energy come from? And why has the weasel's race number 31 become number 13 (with a back to front 3)?
