The Flying Doctors : Chris has difficulty coming to terms with the fact that Tom has gone. When Geoffry Standish, a brash new doctor from the city, arrives she finds it even more difficult working at the RFDS. Geoff drinks when he is on duty. Later it emerges he too is struggling to come to terms with personal loss: his wife died of cancer and he holds himself responsible for not spotting the illness and failing to cure her. A man called Les Foster is suffering from HIV. When it develops in to full blown AIDS, the people of Coopers Crossing have problems accepting some one they know and respect is homosexual.
